This slice feels a bit like an old-fashioned recipe, in the most comforting way.
While it is based on what I imagine is an old recipe, this version is not. A moment of recipe inspiration had me creating this slice and the result feels like a comforting recipe out of a Grandmother’s kitchen.
As is the general theme of so many of my recipes of late, this Ginger Oat and Raisin Slice is an easy bake that won’t take up too much of your time. This slice does however, deliver on flavour. Honestly, if this recipe or any other didn’t deliver on flavour I wouldn’t ever share it with you.
Flavourful recipes are at the heart of what I like creating, but also what I like eating. Bland food annoys me (I mean what’s even the point!?), and sometimes so do recipes that take too much time or energy (especially if they don’t deliver flavour wise after all that!).
With the addition of crystallised ginger, and the sweet slightly caramelised notes of the golden syrup mixed with oats, this Ginger Oat and Raisin Slice is comforting (and most definitely not annoying!). Great with a cup of tea, and maybe a nice thing to make this long weekend?
Elderflower Strawberry & Rose Cordial
Since we are heading into peak iced tea/cold drink season, this Elderflower Strawberry & Rose Cordial is a good place to start! No need to make your own elderflower cordial for this one, any bought one will do.
