Cakes Fit for a Birthday
Thinking About Cakes Because it's Almost my Birthday - Friday Food Chat with Kath
It’s my birthday this weekend, so I have cake on the brain.
We’ve ordered what looks like a fantastic cake from a bakery called Enze here in Sydney, so I am really looking forward to trying it.
If I were baking something for myself (thankfully I’m not, as it’s nice to have a break and it’s been so hot here in Sydney this week I don’t think anyone feels like putting the oven on!), these are the kinds of things I would be making:
I love a sponge cake, and this Double Layer one with lots of fresh berries is an absolute favourite of mine.
As a pistachio lover, a pistachio cake is pretty top of my list too. This Beatrix Inspired Pistachio and Lemon Cake is a great cake for a birthday.
This Peach Melba Inspired Cake (pictured below) makes the most of beautiful in season raspberries and peaches, and with the gold dust decoration and a few candles, I think it would be perfect for a birthday or celebration.
I also really love anything passionfruit so this Passionfruit and Coconut Sheet Cake would also go down a treat. Decorated with a few candles would make it much more celebration worthy, but I’m more interested in a cake that tastes amazing, rather than just looks good so I’d be happy with this cake just as it is.
This Elderflower Chiffon Cake (pictured above) would also make a great birthday cake. Decorated with cream and fresh berries it’s a lovely Summer-y cake.
