It’s time for a recap of my second Cookbooks Worth Waiting for List for this year!
If you are new here, my Cookbooks Worth Waiting For Lists are compiled twice a year (there are too many good books for just one list a year!), where I curate a selection of upcoming cookbook releases I think will be ‘worth the wait’. Ones I’ve preordered to ensure I don’t have to wait any longer than is strictly necessary. The books I am looking forward to adding to my shelves so much I wish away time so their release date wouldn’t feel so far away. The books I think over and over ‘I can’t wait to have that book in my hands!’.
The books I selected for the first half of the year can be found here, and the recap of them (ie. were they worth waiting for?!) can be found here.
It’s now time to find out whether the books I nominated as ‘worth waiting for’ in the second half of this year lived up to the wait.
The selection in the second half of 2023 has proved to be equal parts joyful, informative and also tested my patience and ability to wait!

The next paid subscribers newsletter (this Sunday!) will be an Heirloom Recipe from my Grandma’s collection which would make great finger food or even afternoon snack - sign up to get it all straight to your inbox or Substack feed!
Homemade Honey Ice Cream
The weather is warming up, so it’s time for ice cream! If you have an ice cream maker I highly recommend making room in your freezer for it now as this honey ice cream is well worth the little bit of effort it takes to make.
If you enjoy these newsletters and want more baking, food and cookbook chat, I invite you to join me over on my paid newsletter Extra Food Chat with Kath today.
Paid subscribers get to share in my Heirloom Recipe Series were I am baking my way through my Grandma’s handwritten recipes and are immersed in more cookbook chat so you can more easily decide which cookbooks to add to your collection next.

I love a cookbook round up! Especially when they are ones I don't have. I've been eyeing off the Plain Cake Appreciation Society but just haven't got there yet, and Portico is also on my list. And I'm off to do a cooking class with Emiko next weekend, so I'm waiting until then for Gohan. I have to admit that I know nothing about Daen Lia - I'll have to follow up!
