To be honest, there is a lot not bringing me joy at the moment. I’m sure some of you might be feeling the same.
However, even in tough moments, there are small pockets of joy (or glimmers) that can help turn a bad day around or just allow us to feel safe in the knowledge there is some good still to be had.
Here are a few things that have been bringing me joy lately, I hope you find some nice things to listen to, watch, or enjoy this weekend.
Whatever your thoughts on Emily in Paris, it is escapist to the max, and seeing cities like Paris and Rome showcased in a light probably nicer than you’ll ever see them in person is a nice way to spend half and hour.
Turning bunches of basil in to basil pesto is becoming a weekly thing around here, and I am really enjoying these quick meals that also provide some very nice leftovers.
I have been swimming in cookbooks lately (a very nice place to be!), and they have been bringing me a lot of joy. I will be sharing some more cookbook reviews this Sunday, so keep an eye out for that especially if you are keen to hear more about recent releases Salad for Days and Love Crumbs.
Speaking of cookbooks, I am hoping to follow along with the Villagio Cookbook Club this month (the inaugural month!). The first book is Stephanie Alexander’s The Cook’s Companion. Can you believe a cookbook obsessive like me never had a copy of this?! I found a second hand copy on The Book Grocer last week, and have now remedied the situation!
It seems many are catching up to my levels of pistachio obsession, and I am seeing many recipes online using my beloved crema di Pistacchio (pistachio spread/cream). I am planning on making a version of these choc biscuits stuffed with pistachio spread soon (which in turn was inspired by this recipe!), and I’m loving to see that my fave bought cookies from Butterboy are showcasing pistachio in all its glory this month (if you are around Manly let me know how they are!).
I also enjoyed the comments section of this video, a taste test of a pistachio spread - we all have very specific ideas on what we like, and it brought me a lot of joy to know there are so many other pistachio lovers out there (even if I don’t rate the pistachio spread being reviewed in the video).

White Choc & Macadamia Biscuits
These biscuits/cookies have been on my mind lately, a sign it’s time to buy some macadamias and make some? I think so.

Love that basil pesto can be on repeat again after winter! Beautiful photos of the flowers. Hope they brought you an extra bit of joy x
White chocolate macadamia are my favourite cookies from my childhood. I will try these.
