Thanks for these suggestions - none of which I currently have on my shelf! Philoxenia sounds great - I like the idea of vegetarian Greek cooking. And I've seen a few posts on Instagram about Daniel Alvarez's book, but if I'm being honest, the title puts me off, although that seems a bit shallow! So many books at this time of year and so little restraint!

Glad to hear I could suggest some new titles to you! A Seat at My Table is really good, it has exceeded my expectations. I understand what you mean about A Lifetime of Beautiful Cooking, I don’t think the title gives a definitive idea of what the book is about and it was one I struggled to connect with at first. There are some nice looking recipes in it, but I have a feeling it’s not the book I will get the most use out of (out of this list).

Thanks for sharing these new titles! I’ve only heard about Molly Baz’s book; perhaps the others haven’t come to the US? I’ve added 8 books to my collection since September and haven’t had a chance to cook through them yet, so I’ll probably hold-off on getting anything new for awhile. Or maybe not 😂

So glad you enjoyed this Jessica. Yes now you say that, apart from Molly’s, all the other books have Australian based authors so maybe they aren’t available elsewhere yet. I didn’t even notice that when I was writing it! I was more looking at them in terms of their release dates being similar. 8 books sounds like a nice addition to the collection! I know what you mean, I always think I won’t buy anymore books for a while, but actually sticking to that is another thing entirely!

When you buy cookbooks, do you more often get books from Australian authors than international authors? I’m glancing at my cookbook shelf now, and of the 200+ cookbooks, I’d say that 90% are American. The rest have mostly been acquired while traveling internationally. It’s fun to have a varied collection, I wish I had more geographical diversity - that’s something to focus on when I get new books.

I agree a varied collection is a wonderful thing to have. I think a fair bit of my collection would be Australian based, but there is a lot of diversity in that. We get a lot of cookbooks from the UK so I’d say a large portion of my books would be from authors based there too. We don’t get so many books from the US only the really well know titles (Alison Roman’s and Magnolia Table are easy to get but many titles don’t come here at all). Leah Koenig’s new book was hard to get and I’ve found the same with Molly Yeh’s too. I’m sure there so many US based cookbooks I’ve never heard of!
